Michael Akwo-Adelowo

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, MSN, APRN, PMHNP

Mental health care changed my life before I ever became a provider. Growing up, I watched people I loved struggle in silence — not because they didn’t want help, but because the help they found felt cold, rushed, and disconnected from who they actually were. They left appointments with prescriptions but without answers. They felt like cases, not people.

That experience is what led me to nursing, to advanced practice, and ultimately to psychiatric mental health care. I became a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner because I believed — and still believe — that every person who walks through a provider’s door deserves to feel genuinely heard before they are ever evaluated, diagnosed, or treated.

That Belief is the entire reason Humane Psychiatry exists

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — one of the most extensively researched and effective

frameworks in mental health care.

About Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve been sitting with something difficult for a

while. Maybe you’ve been telling yourself it’s not “bad enough” to get help, or that

you should be able to handle it on your own. Maybe you’ve tried to get help before

and it didn’t go the way you hoped.

I want you to know that reaching out takes courage, and you are in the right place.

My entire practice is built around one simple idea: that you deserve care that

actually feels like care. Not a conveyor belt. Not a quick fix. Real, personal,

thoughtful attention from someone who is genuinely invested in your wellbeing.

I look forward to meeting you. — Michael
